If I can credit two pieces of work for getting me interested in futurism and emerging technologies, Accelerando and Transmetropolitan deserve that merit. Like many other readers, I envision Spider Jerusalem and Manfred Macx as essentially the same character, unwillingly guiding us through future shock, separated only by medium and author. So what better way to spend the bank holiday than reading Ellis’ recent take on how Manfred Macx’ media diet holds up in 2012.
